Sixers cutting ties with Iverson?

Yahoo! Sports is reporting two tidbits of information on the Iverson situation:
1) Allen Iverson will miss the upcoming three game Western Conference road trip to continue to be with his daughter. He had previously missed five games to be by her side earlier this month.
2) The Sixers are leaning towards breaking ties with Iverson due to his being in-and-out of the lineup affecting team chemistry.

Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated has confirmed this rumor with NBA sources.

Update: The Sixers have issued a press release concerning the matter, stating that Iverson is out indefinitely.

My thoughts after the jump.

Truthfully, I was against the Iverson signing from the beginning, and I still believe it's in the Sixers best interest for him not to be eating minutes away from Holiday (and, to a lesser extent Young, Williams, Speights and Meeks). If this happens, I do believe it will be better for the Sixers long term.

That being said, this is absolutely awful from a public relations perspective, and more relevantly from a humanitarian perspective. The only way this is even remotely palatable is if this is coming from Iverson. If it's Iverson pushing the Sixers to let him go so he can focus his efforts towards his daughter, fine. If it's the Sixers letting Iverson go because he's taken personal time to deal with a family emergency? Just another in the long line of terrible mistakes from the organization.

This organization is a disgrace.

Bringing him back was a joke, and now they'll find another way to embarrass themselves and their fans (all 12 of us).
